Description: 7-KETO DHEA is an analog to DHEA which cannot be metabolized to active adrogenic or estrogenic hormones but retains and enhances the immunologic, memory enhancing and thermogenic effects of DHEA. DHEA is a hormone produced by the adrenal glands which is converted into a variety of other hormones including androgens and estrogen (male and female sex hormones) and corticosteroids. Supplemental DHEA is extracted in sterol form (e.g. diosgenin) from wild yams and engineered in laboratory conditions. Male humans produce 1 to 2 mg of DHEA daily and women 10 to 20% less. Human DHEA levels tend to decline with age.
Method of Action: DHEA has various effects throughout the body on cardiovascular, immune and nervous systems. Causes more rapid decline of membrane potential in liver inducing a proton leak or slip, which may contribute to the enhanced thermogenesis noted with DHEA supplementation.
Indications and Usage: Decline (esp. age-associated) in immune response; Weight loss; Memory difficulties including Alzheimer's Disease and declines in learning and retention; May also be helpful with: Mild to moderate depression; Tiredness and lethargy; High LDL cholesterol; Age-Associated Memory Problems; Insulin Regulation; Balancing DI-IFA and cortisol levels; Osteoporosis; Reversal of scopolamine-induced amnesia.
Contraindications: Do not use this product if you are pregnant or lactating without first seeking advice from your physician. Post-menopausal women should not use DHEA.
Dosage and Administration: Baseline DHEA levels should be check with blood test prior to supplementation. DHEA is produced in the human body during the morning hours and supplementation is advised during this time. Dosage is highly individual. Supplementation usually begins after age 40. Starting doses of 5-10 mg. with a therapeutic range between 10 and 50 mg daily in divided doses are standard. Use only 7-KETO DHEA not DHEA . Should be taken with 250 mg of Vitamin-E to attenuate mild oxidative stress on heart muscle (comparable to aerobic exercise).
Clinical Effect In: Both immediate and long-term effects.
Adverse Reactions: Short-term clinical and anatomical pathology studies have found no changes in laboratory values including dihydrotestosterone, estradiol, cortisone and insulin in animal and human studies with 7-KETO DHEA even at very high dosages. No long-term human studies are currently available. Supplementation could theoretically lower body's own production of DHEA.
