Protocols: Yohimbe (Pausinvsinvstalia vohimbe)

Psychoactive

Description: Also known as Ephedra, yohimbe is a Botanical medicine derived from the bark of the P yohimbe tree.

Method of Action: Active constituents are alkaloids especially the yohimbane derivative yohimbine. Hydrochloride salt acts as an adrenoreceptor agonist.

Indications and Usage: Reversal of impotence and male erectile dysfunctions such as those occurring as a result of treatment with SSRI medications. In higher doses can causes anxiety, nervousness, palpitations and restlessness as well as sign such as elevated 3-methoxy-4-hydroxyphenylglycol and cortisol levels. For this reason it is used to provoke panic attacks and anxiety in studies of pathophysiology. May also contribute to psychotic symptoms, mania and seizures.

Contraindications: Do not use this product if you are pregnant or lactating without first seeking advice from your physician. Do not use this product if you have high blood pressure, a heart condition or without medical supervision. Do not use this product if you are over age 65 without medical supervision.

Dosage and Administration: For treatment of hyposexuality and erectile dysfunction 5.4 to 10.8 mg thirty to sixty minutes prior to sexual activity. Information unavailable.

Known Interactive Effects: Tricylclic antidepressants, medications with central adrenergic blocking properties, centrally acting sympathomimetics, MAO inhibitors and antimuscaric agents are all known to potentiate the effects of yohimbine.

Additional Considerations: Psychological and physiological ill effects resulting from use of this substance outweigh any therapeutic benefit. Used in research only.
